The Sobrarbe Region

Sobrarbe is a comarca in the province of Huesca, in northern Aragon, Spain. Located in the central part of the Pyrenees, and more exactly in the most abrupt, wild and spectacular part of these mountains. It has its highest peaks, its steepest valleys (Ara, Cinca and Broto) as well as a wide variety of habitats barely modified by human activity and is home to a large number of animal species and plant.

The Sobrarbe covers 2,200 square kilometers where currently a little more than 7,000 inhabitants live, mainly dedicated to the primary and tertiary sectors (services), and surrounded by a rich natural and cultural precious heritage.
62% of the territory is at an altitude above 1,000 m.
31% is between 601 and 1,000 m and only 6% of the territory is between 401 and 600m above sea level.
